Who we are
Extensive Experience
The University Hospital Vienna (AKH Wien) is the birthplace of VKMB. Founded in 1982, our company was established to ensure the completion of the newly constructed hospital. Until then, no building project in Austria had been as complex, and we played a key role from the outset in setting new standards for the construction of medical facilities.
The current VKMB emerged from the merger of GTB (Gesellschaft für Technische Betriebsführungen) and the Technical Directorate of Municipal Department 16. On 1 January 1993, the City of Vienna commissioned VKMB to take over technical operations management, as well as the responsibilities of the Technical Service Centre, at the University Hospital Vienna (AKH Wien).
Since then, we have been creating the technical conditions to ensure that patients receive the best possible care at one of Europe’s largest hospitals.
As a leading and reliable provider of expertise, we play an active role in shaping infrastructure and technical operations in the healthcare sector.
VKMB offers risk minimisation, legal and budgetary security, long-term value preservation and economic and environmental sustainability.
The highest priority is given to technical optimisation, maintaining the performance of systems and equipment, and increasing efficiency, particularly in the energy sector.
In addition to the University Hospital Vienna, VKMB is responsible for the technical operations management of the CeMM Research Center for Molecular Medicine of the Austrian Academy of Sciences, the Evangelical Hospital Vienna and Therme Wien.
